("Chandan" means sandalwood... and "Dhoop" means incense.)
Chandan Dhoop incense logs have been made by the Mysore Sugandhi Dhoop company of Bombay since 1934, under the patronage of H.H. The Maharaja of Mysore.
They are highly perfumed, guaranteed 100% pure, and are - to quote the manufacturers - "highly recommended for all religious ceremonies and social functions in Hindu temples, churches, musjids and agiaries, produces very good fragrance."
Chandan Dhoop is a potent sandalwood incense with a slightly musky overtone, which quickly fills a room with its distinctive fragrance.
Chandan Dhoop sandalwood incense logs are approximately half an inch (12mm) in diameter, and about 1.5 inches (35mm) long. A box contains 16 logs... and each log burns for about 30 minutes - but its fragrance is considerably longer-lasting. Each box also contains a small metal stand for the logs, similar to that shown in the photo...
